Munhall Sanitary Sewer Municipal Authority was created by the Borough of Munhall in 2008 to manage and operate the Sanitary Sewer System within the Borough of Munhall. This came after the 1st of the Borough’s Municipal Consent Orders came to the Steel Valley by the order of the EPA, DEP and the ACHD. Consent orders were nothing new, since other municipalities and counties experienced their own Consent Orders as early as 2002. The Consent Orders were served as violations of the Clean Stream Act. The Authority received the Phase 2 Consent Orders in December 2021. This 2nd Phase is a 5 year order, consisting of regionalization, repairs and maintenance of sewer lines within our area.

The MSSMA business office is currently located within the Borough Building, on the second floor. Our current office hours are 9am-2pm Tues, Wed, Thurs. By appointment only on Mondays and Fridays.

MSSMA is overseen by a 5 member, 100% VOLUNTEER Board. These positions carry 5 year member terms, and 1 person is appointed/re-appointed each year by submitting a letter of interest to Council of the Borough of Munhall, prior to the end of the calendar year.
